Gamers in Las Vegas are living in a true paradise, as the variety of tournaments that Sin City has to offer is great for anyone looking to get some exercise this summer. The spotlight at the Golden Nugget Casino is the PokerNews Cup, a $1,100 buy-in, $1 million guaranteed event with a mystery bounty.
The news site hosts its annual competition, which kicked off this Thursday with Phase 1A. A total of 507 players signed up and 63 players signed up in order of merit. Brazil recorded two names among the entrants.
One of them is Francisco Correia, better known as “chcalltreta.” The Bahian ace advanced with 502,000 in chips, making him seventh in the official chip count. Meanwhile, WSOP bracelet holder Rafael Caiaffa from Minas Gerais has 187,000 in chips. Given the large number of Brazilians participating in Las Vegas, there may be other names in the upcoming qualifiers.
Day 2 of the competition takes place on Sunday at a fixed time of 12:00 noon Las Vegas time (4:00 pm BST). This Friday is Day 1B and Saturday is Day 1C. There are 32 minutes left in Day 1A’s Level 18 (5,000/10,000), but the tournament will return with the lowest blind levels of the three qualifiers.
