Get ready for a colorful update at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom! The iconic Enchanted Tiki Room is getting a fresh look, starting with its roof.
But here's where it gets intriguing: this repainting project has been a bit of a mystery. In November 2025, Disney filed a construction permit, but it wasn't until now that we realized it might be for a simple repaint job. The permit, which you can explore further here, didn't announce any major refurbishment at the time.
The contract was awarded to PCL Construction Services for general construction work at the classic attraction's address. Interestingly, a Facilities Asset Management representative was listed on the permit instead of an Imagineer, indicating a more routine refurbishment rather than a creative overhaul.
And this is the part most people miss: the Enchanted Tiki Room is staying open during this repainting process! We spotted the project in action today, with railings up around the roof, which is currently being repainted. The thatched section remains untouched, for now.
The majority of the work seems focused on the flat roofing, likely to protect the current paint from further weathering. It's a subtle but important update to keep this beloved attraction looking its best.
The Enchanted Tiki Room has been a staple of Adventureland since its opening day on October 1, 1971. Originally named Tropical Serenade, it's set to celebrate its 55th anniversary this year. You can delve deeper into its rich history here.
