The 2026 PGA season is off to a roaring start, with some familiar names already making waves! Adam Scott and Cam Davis, two Aussie powerhouses, have begun their campaigns at the Sony Open in Hawaii with promising performances. But, they've got some serious ground to cover to catch up to the leaders.
Adam Scott, fresh off the plane from Australia, kicked off his season with a solid three-under 67. He seems right at home at Waialae, a course he clearly enjoys, making it a strategic stop on his way to California for upcoming events. His round included birdies on several holes, but a bogey on the sixth (his 16th) briefly marred his scorecard. A near-disaster on the ninth, where his tee shot landed in the driving range netting, was averted when he saved par.
Cam Davis also had a good start, shooting a 68, which included three birdies. The last hole was especially impressive, as it's known to be one of the toughest on the course.
However, the spotlight is on the co-leaders, Nick Taylor and Kevin Roy, who both blazed through the course with impressive eight-under 62s!
Nick Taylor, the defending champion, is looking sharp, especially with his iron play. He seems to have mastered the par 3s, making birdies on three of them.
Kevin Roy also had an impressive run, with seven birdies in just 11 holes at the start of the game.
And this is the part most people miss... The Sony Open is happening later in the season than usual because The Sentry at Kapalua on Maui was cancelled. This shift in the schedule has brought an even stronger field to Hawaii, including four of the world's top 10 players.
But here's where it gets controversial... There's talk that this might be the last Sony Open, as the tour is considering a complete schedule revamp. What do you think about the potential changes to the PGA tour schedule? Do you think it's a good idea, or do you prefer the traditional format? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
